Power cable works but I can hear a faint whining noise coming from the transformer. It takes a little while to get used to mounting the phone in the cradle...don't think micro USB was made for docking.
The cradle feels solid, a little paperweight-ish and has a rubber type material on the bottom so it stays put on the desk. It's not heavy enough to just pull the phone out, you have to hold on to the cradle whilst pulling the phone up.
You can use the A/C power or USB power on the back to charge. There's a green light on the back that comes one when it gets power. Sometimes if you use an A/C power cord thru an accessory like this the phone sees it as just a USB cable and therefore only charges at the slower USB trickle charge speed, but with this I'll need to look into that and update my review.
This cradle holds the phone itself without any added accessories, or the phone with the extended battery by Seidio, or even with the extended battery and the cover Seidio makes to go over the extended battery...just make sure don't lose the inserts that it comes with (there are 2 of them).
