I bought one of these last Sunday morning when I woke up and discovered that my seven-month-old Droid X was dead. I'm sure most of us feel lost when our phone dies and I sure don't like the feeling. So I was first in line at the Verizon store a mile from my house at 10:00 a.m. I was, of course, greatly relieved when it turned out to be the battery, although I was a bit surprised after only seven months. The Verizon guy tells me they can replace the battery with one that takes longer to discharge and comes with a one-year guarantee. For only $50.00! In fact, because he liked me, I got it for $40.00! My lucky day.
I wish I had thought to buy this from Amazon for 1/3 less, but I wasn't going to be without a phone, even for a day, so I bought it. After a week, here's what I think potential buyers would want to know:
- It appears to take longer to run out of juice, which is a real benefit, because the Droid seems to run through a regular battery quicker than most other phones.
- Don't know if it will outlive my BH5X, but I'll be sure to hold on to the receipt in case it doesn't live the promised year.
- The BH6X is about a millimeter thicker than the BH5X, and it comes with a cover you must use with it. This extra thickness may be a problem if you want a protective shell on the Droid. I managed to get mine back on, but it's tight.
So far, I am pleased with this purchase, even if I did pay about $13 more than I could have, had I anticipated the need. I seem to remember cell phone batteries lasting a lot longer in the old days. Of course they do much much much more!
