When I first installed it on his phone, the back part, right under where the camera sticks out was just a tad spacious (great for those who have the extended battery backing on their droid x). However, after several days of usage, I noticed that the phone case molded to the thickness of the phone and no longer had the slightly loose space between the camera and the battery.
The silicone has a pretty good fit to the phone. It is not loose but it's not too tight either. The volume, camera, and power button are covered in a way that makes the buttons very easy to press because it is so snug on the buttons. You can definitely feel the indent of the volume button, so it is very easy to distinguish between the up volume from the down.
Something else I loved about this case is that it doesn't seem to be a dirt magnet like all other silicone cases. It has a powdery finish, rather than a sticky silicone feel. We've only had this phone case for a week, so it's hard to tell if the properties of this case is going to change the longer he uses it.
For now, I feel that this is indeed a very nice case. It seems more dirt resistant than regular silicone cases, seems thick enough to provide good protection for the phone, but thin enough so that it doesn't feel like the case is adding any bulk. The silicone is very firm and fits snugly into the droid X and does not move around. It is nicely snug around the covered buttons and makes all the charging ports accessible. I don't have a dock for the phone, so I wouldn't be able to tell you how it would fare on a dock. On the first installation, the case appears to have enough space for a droid x with an extended battery backing (those make your phone thicker, or so I've heard). What amazes me most, as I've mentioned above, is that the case seems to mold to the phone after carrying it around several times, the caseno longer has that little bit of space it did when we first installed it, but even then, the tiny bit of extra space on the case was not very bad. The case was still very snug fitting, so I have zero complaints.
I will defnitely recommend this phone case for anyone who's looking for a silicone case. I personally got myself the qmatrix gel case so that we wouldn't confuse our two phones. I recommend qmatrix if you are looking for a gel case.
So in sum:
Pros:
* nice, snug fit to phone
* so far it has not been a dirt magnet (like most other silicone cases)
* easy to press power, volume, and camera buttons
* easily accessible hdmi and mini usb ports (not covered by case)
* case is thick enough to protect the phone when dropped on ground - pretty high quality silicone case
* case does not add much bulk (barely, if any)
* case does not cover the menu, home, back, and search buttons (seems like people do not like the ones that do cover it)
* case does not take a lot of effort to take off (should you need to switch out the battery or take it out)
* appears to initially leave room for an extended battery back but if you have a regular droid x battery, this case will definitely mold to the phone after several usages, so the space will be gone.
Cons:
* people may not like that the phone case only covers the front edges of the phone, but I have zero problems with it.
* some may find that a case with an exposed menu, home, back, and search button case is not good, but I beg to differ since most of those cases seem inaccurate at pressing the correct key when it is covered.
I highly recommend this case. I bought it on sale from amazon for 6.99 and it was such a great deal for such a good quality product.
