(More customer reviews)I figured I needed a new battery since the old one was swollen too much for the battery cover to stay shut. Reviews on various sites left me a bit nervous about what I'd get. Apparently Motorola isn't supplying this battery any more. However, I figured that for about $10 I didn't have much to lose, and I didn't want to buy a new phone just to get a new battery.
The battery arrived on time. I installed it and then plugged the phone in and left in in the charger for 18 hours or so, then left it with the phone turned on till it fully discharged, which took about 4 days. (Yes, I'm not a heavy user of the phone.) I then recharged it, and it seems to be working fine. The battery cover stays closed now. Fully meets my requirements, meets or exceeds expectations.
I don't know if people who've had bad experiences would have done better if they'd done the extended initial charge and a full discharge cycle. For that matter, I don't know if lithium ion batteries need that treatment, or whether that's NiMH batteries or what, but I'm happy so far and I think I got my money's worth.
